Food boards are all the rage and this trend isn't going away any time soon. It makes a beautiful presentation to start off a Shabbos meal or to have on a buffet for a festive party.

First decide on your occasion and if you will go for Dairy, Meat, or Fish, after that the options are endless!

Cheese boards - include a few types of cheeses, along with a nice jam, crackers, fresh fruit, and nuts. Use a hard cheese to cube such as cheddar or parmesan, a sliced cheese such as mozzarella, and a soft cheese such as goat cheese. Really there are no rules and you are only limited to your imagination and taste buds.

Meat boards - use a whole salami, a freshly grilled steak, flavored sausages, and you've gotta have some beef jerky on there. Include something pickled such as olives, cornichons or gherkins, whole grain mustard or a fancy ketchup, gourmet crackers, and why not throw on some pickled onions for a pop of color.

Here are some of the elements you'll need:

1. The Board

We love sourcing beautiful wood boards that are very reasonably priced from a Home Goods store. If you don’t have time to shop in person you can always find one online. Here’s our pick.

Hot Pz Tip: Place parchment paper underneath your food items to make for a super simple cleanup.

2. Or Go For A Rustic Style Board

Here's a different vibe for wood boards that also double as serving trays when not being used for charcuterie. We love the distressed look and metal handles for a vintage vibe to add to your table or buffet. This comes in a two pack in different sizes, use both to give a layered look.

3. Why Not Make A Few Mini Boards?

Hosting a fancy party? Serve a show stopping first course and have individual boards at every seat with these cute minis. Only for the ones of us who are a little bit #extra. Think Purim Seudah, Sheva Brochos, 50th birthday party...

4. Restaurant Style Cups To Hold Dips

Get a restaurant vibe with these mini stainless steel cups. These containers are 2.5 ounces making it the perfect size for ketchup, fancy mustards, jams, BBQ sauce, etc. Put a couple options on your board for delicious combinations.

5. Or Mini Mason Jars To Keep Small Items Together

In these small mason jars you will put your loose items, such as olives, pickles, pickled onions...the options are yours for the choosing. Place on the board before you start layering your food items, and then fill it up!

6. Mini Forks For Easy Tasting

Disposable pretty forks or toothpicks are key here, for keeping your food board tasting casual and sanitary. You can group them in a mason jar beside the board for easy access.

7. A Crinkle Cutter To Get Your Veggies Looking Pretty

Include some fresh veg on your board! They'll look tempting with this slick crinkle cutting knife which gives your veggies a fun look and makes for a great crunch. Use for cucumbers, carrots, and also great for making your own crinkle cut fries.

8. Add In Fun Crackers

Browse the aisle of your grocery store for something fun and different. We are a fan of the Tuscanini brand, certified Kosher under the OU, for giving us delicious Italian flavors. These parchment paper crackers are light and crispy and come in a variety of flavors, making them an ideal vehicle for cheese. Choose a sturdier one if you are putting on your meat boards.

9. Use Premium Style Condiments To Upgrade Your Flavors

Don't be basic! Skip the Heinz and check out your gourmet food store. Another Tuscanini pick are these truffle-flavored ketchups

10. Feeling Adventurous? Make Your Own Beef Jerky At Home

Making your own beef jerky is not as complicated as it sounds! Using a leaner cut of meat like a first cut brisket, slice thin, bite-sized pieces and marinade for 12-24 hours. Then using the jerky setting on a dehydrator, lay out the pieces and “cook” for about 3 hours. You’re left with delicious, one-of-a-kind jerky that will be a house-hold favorite.

11. Or Y'know, Buy Some In Your Favorite Flavor

Find your preferred Jerky in your grocer's provisions section or here on Amazon. Choose from original, spicy, teriyaki and more!

12.  Add These Hot & Spicy Jalapenos To Turn The Heat Up

If you live near a Trader Joe’s, well we’re a little jealous. There are so many Kosher certified options that would be perfect for a charcuterie board, including these delicious pickled jalapenos. Hey it might be worth the shlep out there for these.
